What wheel and tire combo would is the best bang for the buck for a daily driven evo? Traditional knowledge says that slicks and lightwieght wheels seem to free up horsepower, decrease stress on drive train parts, and cut great 60s. Which wheels are the lightest and cheapest available for the evo? Which slick have you had the best results on?

If you dont mind doing some brake work I have some little brakes that will let 15's fit with no issues.
For daily/strip usage I have personally used lighter 17x8.5s or 17x9s (RPF1s in the 8.5 and GN+ in the 9) and Toyo RA1s.

The Motegi Trak Lites in a 15x6.5 are the inexpensive choice if you have the small brake kit. I don't use them because I like at least a 7 inch width, but we use Hoosier 26x9.50x15 and Volks CE28N 15x7 for our race setup. I'm considering testing a set of M/T slicks, but haven't ordered any yet. I've also used 17x8 CE28N's with Nitto 555R (smoked them too hard) and have since given them to a friend and replaced them with Dunlop M3 Winter tires for street use. They're soft and lots of siping, but they'll be driven very little on the street. They seem to get excellent traction until peak torque.

I have always heard the hoosiers are hockey pucks.
Everyone in the south seems to run M/T. Anyone tried 24s by M&H?

Has anyone ever tried Rally Tarmac tires ?
A friend of mine that competes in Rally says they might work really well.
And I plan to test them out next summer.
Tire name is Silverstone s585

We have used the 24's on Hondas with reasonable sucess. The M&H "street tire" works really well in the 235/60-15. 25.4" Tall and about 7 or so in treadwidth and they hook well enough for 1.4s and 142mph :)
