Basic Performance Upgrades

Most other car sites have a basic performance setup of bolt on parts that produce RESULTS. Lets clear the air and post up a PROVEN way to make the most power from a stock car. What basic performance parts yield the best hp gains? What order would you, given a stock car, proceed in to get the most horsepower per dollar spent? Dyno plots are appreciated if you have them between mods.

I havn't had a chance to try them out personally yet but I've heard that you can have work done to your intake manifold and that is supposed to make more power. I'm still early on into my build so havn't decided to go that route yet but there are quite a few options out there. Aftermarket manifolds seem to be a popular choice but I've seen a few guys do some porting to the stock intakes with decent results. Any insight guys?

Are you reffering to extrude hone porting?

Alot of people seem to be going this route these days, but it dosn't seem to be as cost effective as buying an aftermarket sheetmetal or cast intake manifold. Though I have not had anything extrude honed yet.

Yeah it doesn't seem like there is a huge cost savings by going with the honing but I'm just weighing out my options right now. Has anyone had any experience with fitment problems of an aftermarket manifold? There are lots of options out there, is there a brand that anyone can recommend?
