New parts and a dogbox!

Well I just got my reenlistment bonus so I decided to get the car some goodies I've been wanting!

Just ordered my dogbox through Shep. I should have it in about a week. Also picked up 3" dss Driveshaft CCW classics and Hoosier from Shawn (Boost Boys n Girls Racing).

Also ordered my cage and some extended wheel studs. Hopefully I'll be legal next time down the track!

Now I am looking into a good suspension setup. It is probably going to be Ksports and some high rate springs.

Can't wait! :p

Oh my man It's been a hell of a month!

Sorry I try to keep up on all my threads I guess I missed this one. But Auto email's to the cell are pimp :D.

Let's see where I can start at. I have not had an all out 1/4 pass yet since the Hoosiers have been on.

The first time at the track with all the new goodies was a hell of a learning expirence.

First pass I blew the drive shaft off of the rear end. The bolts broke, fell out something I don't know!

Second pass of that night I coasted to a 7.01 in the 1/8 and stopped soon after. I lost all gears no power anywhere, I just didn't understand it.

I found I snapped a front right axle and thought it was weird because they never break. We replaced that one and got the car moving around so I thought it was all good.

They closed the lanes for the night so we packed up and left. The next day I took a friend for a ride and smoked the front tires for about 80 ft thinking WTF? I dropped the transfer case and yep it was broke.

Got that fixed and jumped on the dyno. All were back to back because it was a hook up from a friend and we did about 5 pulls. My afr's were 10.0s and My dumb ass didn't realize the boost was dropping off after 5000 rpms. I had a bad boost leak from my couplers. I only put down 420whp and 380Tq on a mustang dyno.

The day after that we headed out to the 1/8 up near Newport,TN

First pass out broke the U joint off of the front of the drive shaft. Damit!!

Second pass we dropped the drive shaft and ran FWD, just to make a pass with all the new parts on and see how it feels.

Ran a 9.26@97Mph :D not bad FWD.

Third pass we fixed the drive shaft and got it ready for another pass.

So after that easy pass I put the car on kill mode..

Well it did just that killed the clutch at the line. It was completely my fault. I was waiting for the tree to come down and it never did and I just sat there on 2step with the car preloaded.

Well the next day we went to a local clutch and brake shop that the guy builds his own clutches. He made me a single disc 6 puck with Iron pads. Said it would hold more than that twin disc did.

Well I put it to the test last weekend.

First pass was really babied.
60' 2.6
1/8th 8.6
mph 100
1/4 12.5
mph 127.

So I decided to launch it next pass.
All I remember from that slip is

12.5@ 115 with a 1.7 60' and sparks shooting out from under the car....

I toasted that single disc on its second pass ever.

I've tried numerous different Rpm's . First time I tried 5000, it fell on its face. I tried 7200 slipping the clutch and that broke a transfercase. Did 6500 that broke the drive shaft.

So... I haven't found a good spot yet. I'm going to try some different launching styles on saturday to see what happens. I will have lots of spare parts :D

Curious to know how many d/s failures are occuring w/ people running the DSS shaft?

I don't keep up as much as i should on the DSM's but you and Jake M. are the 2 guys i've seen first hand go through the DSS d/s......we have one on a customer's 2G build so i like to stay informed ;)

Ah I'm still on the stock shaft right now. But the only thing breaking is the U joints. I wish I could throw the Dss one on but it is made for the Shep case. I have to wait until I pick one up to put it on.

I blew a transfercase in 2 last night... on street tires. I got one put together and a different driveshaft, still stock. So we will see whats up tomorrow.

It's been something in the damn rear end!

I was at the 1/8th last night testing somethings out. First pass blew the drive shaft apart. I didn't get on it until about mid track.

Dropped everything and ran FWD.

Best of 9.0@101

But on the last pass Something felt weird in the rear and I heard a banging. The 4 bolts that hold the left axle to the cup broke.

I'm done for now. I'll pick up where I left off after the deployment.

Not quite sure really. It was on Shawn's car when he was still AWD. I think he said it helps keep it from exploding apart.

Just an update.

Waiting on money to get a new 2nd gear for the dogbox still. And I am currently trying to teach myself how to use AEM. It's a complete different animal compared to Link. Just so much stuff and no clue where to start!

Looking good! That stock upper radiator hose with the inlet of the turbo there would scare me. If you pop a head gasket and that hose splits the turbo is going to eat all the coolant and would likely be an end to it.
