I'm not trying to start a war here, and I'd like anyone with negative comments to find somewhere else to post. I'm simply trying to solidify our 2010 racing schedule. Could someone please tell me when the Showdown will be this year? I don't see it (or anything else for that matter) on Englishtown's website. Thanks to all of those who are involved with the planning of it.

One of the things we all want is for the event NOT be held in the dead heat of summer, if at all possible. We can all agree that the blistering, blazing heat made some of the heavy hitter's cars run wierd, right?

Sunny days at the track are nice but hell that was hot out.

I would actually like to attend both events. I'm down for having them on different days.

I personally love racing in the fall. The chances of rain is much lower as is the humidity and temperatures on the east coast. The cars are also sorted out pretty good at the end of the season. The first or second weekend of october is always fun for me.

I would also like to see it later in the year when temps are down a little. The end of September/begining of October sounds like a good time. That puts it right in between the August Shootout and the Carolina Shootout in November.

Well.....everyone is talking about it being in early October. The Fall Nationals is usually held the first weekend in October. Are we going to combine the Showdown with the Outlaw FWD Shootout and the rest of the Fall Nationals? If so, I like it!

Whiskey, please please PLEASE don't start the war on this thread! I just want to race and hang out with the fast guys (Showdown 2009) and have fun! If people choose to go to Norwalk, that's their personal choice. I know we're only making it to Englishtown no matter what. What Dave, Al and everyone involved with the Shootout do is their business, and I'm not knocking their event in any way, shape or form. I wish them continued success with the Shootout. Now, back on track....I need the date of the Showdown, please! Trying to finalize our schedule and potential sponsors want to know where we might be!

Ah, I didn't realize they were that close. I want to go to the Fall Nationals again as well. Looks like September may be the best bet.

Try and keep it clean boys.
Evo-Tech would be interested in sponsoring the showdown in every extent possible, It was a great event last year.

Following a succesful 2009 season OGS will again be partnering with Old Bridge Township Raceway Park to continue providing the sport compact enthusiasts of the tri state area with quality events featuring drag racing, show cars and lifestyle attractions. 2010 promises to be another great season with the popular Import Survival Series, Street Wars and single make events like Honda Day. The season is highlighted by the Spring Nationals in May, the Summer Sport Compact Slam in June and the Fall Nationals in October.

Sat. March 6 Street Wars/Evo Vs. WRX-STI

Sun. March 28 Import Survival Series 1+ Pro Import+Car Show

Sun. April 11 Spring VW & Audi Show and Go

Sat and Sun May 1&2 14th Annual Sport Compact Spring Nationals

Sat. May 8 Nissan-Infiniti Drag Day/Supra Club Drag Day

Sat and Sun June 26&27 15th Annual Summer Sport Compact Slam

Sat and Sun July 18&19 Waterfest 16

Sun. August 15 Honda/Acura Day

Sun. August 29 Import Survival Series 2 + Pro Import+Car Show

Sat and Sun October 9&10 13th Annual Sport Compact Fall Nationals

Sat. October 23 Mitsubishi and Evo vs. Subaru and WRX-STI

Sun. October 24 Fall VW and Audi Show and Go

Sun. October 31 Import Survival Series 3 +Pro Import

Sun. November 14 Street Wars 2

Why'd I have to go to Honda-Tech to find this??? I should be hearing this from the heavy hitters themselves.

Here is the low down on the showdown

There was a small conflict with the dates, and it has just now been solidified, so
Sat. October 23 Mitsubishi and Evo vs. Subaru and WRX-STI is the official date. I'm sure we are all in agreement that the these cars do not run well in the heat, so a fall date has been established. Vending opportunites will be solidified as well, as this turned out to be a great way to hit your target market, I wish I had been more prepared last year to have my own booth, as many people had asked.

I had a small 'misunderstanding' with Keith last year, so it required him to load my car with 350 lbs of extra weight, I still had enough to beat his ass, so this time I will be going over the rules a bit more thoroughly. I will be asking for everybody elses advice on rules as well

As with last year there will be many sponsorship opportunities available.

For the guys that cannot wait until fall to race, I would like to know what kind of interest you would have in arranging a spring time race solely for the higher level classes, that would happen in front of 8000 - 10,000 spectators.

This is just a suggestion that has been offered to me at this point but I would like to keep this thread as a open dialogue for discussion, I will open another thread when we have finalized the rules.

Not sure if I will make it again but I want to try especially with the fall date, great move guys!

I would like to see courtesy staging enforced. Other than that I liked the rules and classes from last year.

Good luck with the event guys.

I was pretty happy with the rules last year, I don't think I have anything to offer there. The date is awesome, it works perfectly for me. I can't commit to a spring event yet with the changes I'm making, but if I'm ready I'll be there to support it and shake the POS down. :)

Good stuff. The weather will be awesome in late October. I will bring a car as long as their is something fun for 10 and 11 second street cars to participate in and not get smoked.

Agreed, for sure!

I'm sure the English Racing crew will be heading back out there again this year and this time I'll be joining them here from Washington State as well.

I will definitely make it to the Fall Showdown this year. I'd also be very interested in the Spring Event. Just need to know the date so I can try to make it happen.

More track prep?

I was sliding all over that track in my car so I know you big boys had to have a handful.

I've seen that track prepped well, in October. I'm hoping they just didn't bother because of the heat and it will be better in the fall.

For sure. I'll be trying to make it to more out of state races this year. NSCRA is in Palm Springs & MIR several times so as long as I can afford it and the car holds together.

Kevin, everytime I have raced in heat like that the track becomes a greasetrap. There really is nothing you can do when it starts getting that hot and humid, the track just becomes greasy.

I remember last year the only class that was allowed a side exit was the Quick 16. I had to have a full exhaust made so I could run in street 16.

Not sure why a side exit isn't a street-able exhaust to some people.... lol

Ya I will make a new exhaust if I have to!!

The rules for Street 16 are the same as last year and follow the old NHRA SRWD rules. Cars need to have full exhaust.

Is the Q16 still gonna be $500 entry fee?
